Make AWish Project 2026

MAKE A WISH - Turning small dreams into unforgettable realities

A Heartfelt Initiative by Better Life Foundation India

Better Life Foundation India is a registered NGO operating across South India & Nepal. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive society where every individual—regardless of their physical abilities or background—has the opportunity to experience dignity, joy, and equal opportunity.

Our Core Pillars:

  •  Disability Support: Comprehensive programs for inclusion.
  • Education: Creating learning opportunities for the underprivileged.
  • Women Empowerment: Building strength and independence for mothers.
  • Sustainability: Protecting our planet for future generations.

The Need – Why "Make A Wish"?

 Understanding the Silence

For children with disabilities from rural and low-income backgrounds, the world often shrinks to the space between their home and school.

  • Social Isolation: Limited interaction with the wider world.

  • Financial Barriers: Travel and exploration remain a distant luxury.

  • Caregiver Sacrifice: Mothers dedicate their entire lives to caregiving, often neglecting their own mental well-being and happiness.

  • The Goal: To break these barriers and prove that every child’s voice deserves to be heard and every dream is valid.

The Concept – The "Wish Post Box"

Giving a Voice to Dreams

The Process

1. Placement: We install a "Wish Post Box" at special schools and therapy centers.

2. Expression: Children are encouraged to write down or draw their smallest and biggest dreams—no matter how "impossible" they seem.

3. The Promise: Our team collects these notes, ensuring every child feels seen and heard. We believe that saying "Your dream matters" is the first step toward healing.

Project Background & Need

Bridging the Gap of Opportunity

Children with disabilities from rural and low-income backgrounds face a double disadvantage—the challenges of physical or developmental limitations, compounded by poverty, limited access to services, and social exclusion. While medical and rehabilitative interventions may address functional needs, opportunities for exposure, aspiration, and joyful experiences remain largely inaccessible to them.

The Socio-Economic Gap

In many underserved communities, families struggle to meet even basic needs. For children with disabilities, this often results in restricted mobility, minimal recreational exposure, and limited participation in experiences that foster confidence and social integration. Aspirational experiences—such as travel, exploration, and celebration—are typically viewed as unattainable luxuries rather than developmental necessities.

The Psychological Gap

Mothers, who are most often the primary caregivers, shoulder continuous physical, emotional, and financial responsibilities. The absence of respite, recognition, and emotional support leads to chronic stress, burnout, and social isolation. Over time, caregiving becomes survival-oriented, leaving little space for joy, shared happiness, or positive memory-building with their children.

Identified Programmatic Gap

Through years of grassroots engagement, Better Life Foundation India observed that conventional disability interventions focus predominantly on treatment, therapy, and compliance. While essential, these approaches rarely address emotional fulfillment, self-worth, or the human need for happiness and hope. Joy—a powerful catalyst for resilience and confidence—is often missing from rehabilitation frameworks.

The Rationale for Make A Wish Project

Better Life Foundation believes that experiential learning and emotional breakthroughs are as critical as medical therapy. Moments of happiness, achievement, and wonder can reshape self-perception, strengthen caregiver-child bonds, and unlock new emotional capacities. The Make A Wish Project was conceived to fill this gap—by creating transformative experiences that restore dignity, inspire confidence, and remind children and their mothers that their dreams are valid and achievable.

By bridging the gap between care and joy, the project redefines inclusion—not merely as support, but as shared human experience.

CSR Alignment & Impact

A Strategic Partnership for Social Good

This initiative is designed to align with corporate social responsibility mandates under Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

1. SDG Alignment & Impact Points

The "Make a Wish" project contributes directly to several UN goals by addressing the multi-dimensional challenges of disability and poverty.

  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being

Impact: Enhances mental health and emotional well-being of differently-abled children and their primary caregivers (mothers) through "positive psychology" and joyful experiences.

  • SDG 5: Gender Equality

* Impact: Empowers mothers who often sacrifice their own health and dreams for caregiving. By including them in the “MAKE A WISH” , the project recognizes and supports their unpaid labor and mental health.

  • SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities

* Impact: Bridges the "experience gap" between rural, low-income families and the urban elite by making MAKE A WISH Project—a symbol of status and opportunity—accessible to the marginalized.

  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

* Impact: Encourages collaboration between NGOs (Better Life Foundation), Corporate Donors (CSR), and Government bodies to solve social isolation.

2. Schedule VII Compliance (Companies Act 2013)

For Indian Corporates, this project falls under the following legally recognized CSR categories:

  • Category (i): Promoting Health Care

* Addresses mental health and psychological rehabilitation through therapeutic travel experiences.

  • Category (ii): Promoting Education

* Focuses on special education and livelihood enhancement by building confidence and providing world exposure to the "differently abled."

  • Category (iii): Promoting Gender Equality & Empowering Women

* Directly supports mothers through emotional relief and "care for the caregiver" initiatives, reducing the inequalities faced by socially backward groups.

  • Social Welfare & Inclusion

* Ensures that marginalized groups are not "left behind," directly fulfilling the spirit of inclusive growth mandated by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).

Kindness turning self benefits

Better Life Foundation India is fully compliant with Indian tax laws, offering significant benefits to both individual and corporate contributors.

Supporting our mission is not just an act of kindness; it is also a tax-efficient way to give back. All contributions to this project are eligible for tax relief under the Income Tax Act, 1961.

1. Section 80G: Tax Deductions for Donors

Under Section 80G, donors are entitled to a 50% tax deduction on the amount donated.

  • Who is eligible: Individuals, NRIs, and Corporates.
  • How it works: 50% of your donation amount is subtracted from your gross taxable income, thereby reducing your overall tax liability.
  • *Conditions: To claim this, donations must be made through digital modes (UPI, Bank Transfer, GPay) or Cheque/DD. Cash donations above ₹2,000 are not eligible for tax benefits.

2. Section 12A: Tax Exemption for the Foundation

Better Life Foundation India is registered under Section 12A, which means:

  • 100% Tax-Free Usage: Every rupee you donate is used entirely for the project. The NGO's income is exempt from tax, ensuring that your contribution goes directly to the children and their mothers without being diluted by institutional taxes.

3. CSR-1 Registration: For Corporate Partners

We are officially registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) under Form CSR-1 (Registration No. CSR00076752).

  • CSR Compliance: Companies can count their donations toward their mandatory 2% CSR spend as per the Companies Act, 2013.
  • Impact Reporting: We provide 80G receipts and detailed impact reports to help companies fulfill their annual CSR filing requirements seamlessly.

Why These Points Matter

  • Trust & Authenticity: These registrations prove that the Better Life Foundation India is a legally recognized entity audited by the Income Tax Department and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
  • Cost Efficiency: With 12A and 80G certifications, the "cost of giving" is lower for the donor, and the "value of the gift" is higher for the children.
  • Legal Compliance: For companies, the CSR-1 registration is the "gold standard" required to legally count their support toward their annual CSR mandates.
  • Zero Dilution: Every rupee donated follows a transparent trail directly to the Make a Wish , and the children's joy.
